  3. Hello Carl,
Really enjoying these. I’m at early Italy now and it’s great to listen to a real history enthusiast.

    Thanks,

  4. Hello,

I was inspired to look in to the real early history of England from watching the Last Kingdom series on Netflix. It is so cool it is loosely based on real history. It was nice to hear the true events and how they unfolded. I really enjoyed the podcasts and truly found a gem when I stumbled upon your archive. Thank you for your work and dedication.

    Respectfully,

  5. Hello Carl,

    Thank you!!

I meant to send you a note of thanks when you completed the WWI series last fall. The unexpected interview that dropped today reminded me I wanted to send a note. Thank you so much for all your efforts. One day, I plan to re-listen to the entire series.

By the way, I enjoyed your interview with Mr. Eizenstat. I remember most of the events he discussed, going back to Nixon-going-to-China. Regarding the Iran hostages affair (1979 & 1980), one thing that has always been on my mind is that the hostages were released the day Ronald Reagan was inaugurated was because the Iranians feared that Reagan would unleash the US military on Iran (possibly even nuclear weapons). I was not (in the least) a fan of Reagan, but it would not surprise me if the Iranians did not have such a concern.

    Best regards and thank you,

    Spencer
